I usually stay at 25 yards until I get a load shooting one-hole groups at that distance. Then I move out to 50 and 75 yards progressively.

The sights on that new gun may need adjustments. If you're not on target at 25 yards, move the target up to about 12 yards and get the sights adjusted to dead-on at that range.

My .50 Firestorm likes the taste of LEE REALS better than it does the PRB and my Buddy's Firestorm shoots the .50 Maxiball better than the PRB.
