On morning hunts as we get near the rut, last week of October, I' ll rattle and grunt at first shooting light to see if I can get anything to come in early. I figure if I screw it up I still have a few hours to go back to the passive mode and wait. Then as I get to about a half hour before I need to leave the woods, because of other commitments or nightfall, I go aggressive again, figuring ' What do I have to lose?'
