Getting a good kill shot on a deer at 300 yards isn't a slam dunk for most people, by any means. Most folks are good to a hundred yards, tops. Quite frankly, bowhunters can't keep the herd numbers in check. If not for gun hunters, we'd be neck deep in sick and starving deer. At least until they all died off.
