Its pretty common to use a Harvester Black Crushrib with .458s unless you have a tight bore. That combo is very popular in Savages. The Rems are a tad smaller at .457 IIRC also.

That is exactly what the rep at Harvester told me.
I recalled how I used to load .577 and .579 round balls in a .580 bore bench rifle with .017 patches. So I figured the .457 Remington 45-70 bullets would do similarly.
