Yeah Dave they are definately rifled barrels. There are 2 sets of rear sights on it. And when I first looked at it I thought they were for different ranges. But further looking seems to me that you sight them in for each barrel. One sight for the left and one for the right. I do agree that it is way to heavy to take on a long hike in the woods. Unless of course I could hire a gun bearer (or put a wheel on the butt stock and pull it along behind me).
