Use a good rest to sight in, then go afield and shoot, then fine tune.

Amen. I use my range rests for one reason only and that is to work up the right loads. Once I figure out what my loads will be I will then shoot off hand or just rest my elbows on the table. All our treestands have rails and this acts as a great rest.

If I had my own range I would be a little more real like shooting in a kneeling position or rested up against a tree or limb. Practicing shooting from a standing and sitting position is worth the time to do.
