If you want to stick with the Deep Curl, the load I have set up for my dad (who has a bad shoulder) is the 250 grain Deep Curl, 70 grains T7 shooting out of a CVA Wolf. Recoil is very tolerable. He has taken 1 deer with this load and it performed great. It would probably be a 100 yards and under load, though.

I also have had a lot of success loading the .40 cal 200 grain XTP with the MMP blue .40/.50 sabot with 70 - 90 grains of T7. With 70 grains the recoil is similar to that of a .410 shotgun. I've taken 4 or 5 deer with this setup, and the XTP does a great job at these velocities.
