I don't ever do magnum loads. If I ever use PB's it will be the Platinums. Just for the insurance that they'll hold up better. Plus, just like you. I found them very accurate.
When I had my Optima i was shooting pretty small groups with the 338 gr Plats. It was going to be my elk load. I was using 100 gr of BH, but for me. The recoil was more than I wanted. It actually made me turn to the .270. Then I realized I like a ML better than the CF's which I used to love. I find a CF gun kind of boring now.
If I end up getting an MR. I'll shoot a .270 Platinum with RS to tame the recoil, and get closer for elk. I'll still shoot the flint for deer. If I don't get the MR. i'll shoot the flint for deer and elk.
I'm just trying to cover all my bases, but at the moment. I have faith in the Platinum. I think you'd be happy with it for deer.
