A gunsmith would have to cut 1/2" or so off of the .308 or 30-06 take off barrel to clean up the chamber for the new cartridge dimensions.Then finish re-threading it and ream it out to 30-40 Krag if that's what you want.Or less if you go the 7.62x53R .308 bore .Mosin Nagants are 1x16" same as a Win 70,rem 700 or Ruger 77.All of which can provide donor barrels.Use 7.62x54R dies with the expander removed for making 7.62x53R to grip .308 bullets.........Harold
