I gut the deer where they fall if the terrain is friendly. I have moved them a short distance for instance to get them out of water for instance, or head up on a hill to assist in a cleaner gut job. I never saw the gut pile cause other deer to panic. In fact just the opposite. I'd shot a doe (we had to before we could shoot a buck) and gutted her. Pulled her maybe fifteen yards from the gut pile to where I could keep an eye on her. About an hour later a buck came in, scenting the air. At first I was kind of panicked because I figured.. it will smell the blood and leave. Nope. it walked right to where the gut pile was, took a good nose hit of it, and I dropped him right next to the gut pile.
