Plant 4-6# of white clover along with some cereal grains (rye, oats, peas) and you should have a great stand of clover come the following year and for the next couple of years. This also gives the deer something to eat during hunting season for the first year. Clover will feed deer during all but the harshest winter months. Even then the deer will dig for what little clover they can scrounge and it should bounce back the following year. Pretty hard to kill an established white clover plot. Red clover is faster to establish, but it is an annual and will only last one season.
