If I had a cat and a coyote in front of me, I' d wait until the coyote ate the cat and then I' d shoot the coyote (felony to shoot cats in New York, if you can believe that!).

Coyotes are an effecient predator, too efficient if you ask me. Their population is increasing around here, yearly. You have to be careful taking out a hunting dog, because it might get eaten by the dang things. We could shoot as many as possible and they' d still be plenty around. I say, keep their population reasonably low. They do too much damage to game animals populations.
