A freind of mine in Yakima put those on his rifle and I shot it a couple of times. I guess they work but I think there is a big margin of possible error in them.
Moved back to 100 yards. 2 shots good left to right but still about 3 inches high. Moved the sight - it's one of the slide/glides and there's no markings on it to even be able to guess how the movements are going to change POI. First shot after adjustment and shot was about 4 inches low but good left/right. Guessed again on the elevation adjustment. This time it was good, shooting a 3 shot, 1 1/2 - 2 inch group, about an inch high at 100 yards.
I realize that this would all mean a lot more with pictures to back it up, but the only digital camera we have is my wife's that she uses for her photography business. I'm scared to touch that thing.
As for open sights, I don't really like them that much, but MN says I have to hunt muzzleloader season with them. I keep hoping they'll change the rules to allow a scope, but until then I'm kind of stuck. I think over the winter I'm going to try to get a Williams FP peep, should help things be a little more precise.
If you ever get a chance to look at a set of FP's (1/4 min clicks for elevation and windage) - try it I really like mine. And I added the fire sight hood... now when you look doen through it makes you think you are looking through a 1X scope...
I wish i could show you a sight picture...
One other thing I've noticed after shooting the Pro Hunter a couple times - for all the hype surrounding break actions, I really don't think they save any time cleaning over my old Disc Extreme. I honestly don't think it took me any less time to clean the Pro Hunter, it was still about 45 mins. to get the Pro Hunter cleaned the way I wanted it to be. Not that it matters that much. I bought the Pro Hunter thinking it would save a lot of time cleaning, hence allowing me to shoot a little more often. Oh well.
All in all, it was a good day shooting. If I get a chance to shoot again before the season starts, I would like to take a few shots at 100 yards and see where it hits on a clean cold barrel. But if I don't get out again I would still feel comfortable taking it out hunting.
Keep working at it... it is one of those fun work things...
