I keep trying to talk myself out of one of these but you guys are making it more and more difficult.
I cannot speak for the 20 gauge but, I have been shooting the 12 for 15 years. When I first got my 210F, I tried both 2 3/4 & 3 inch shells. They both grouped well but the 2 3/4 was a bit better so, I went with them. They almost always pass through so, there is no point in using the 3 inch shells. In addition, the recoil was noticably harder. After sighting in that day, my shoulder was black & blue. I purchased the PAST recoil pads shortly thereafter for sight ins.
My guess is that the 20 gauge will have the same relative difference. If the 2 3/4 do the job, the extra recoil of the 3s are unnecessary punishment.
