As far as mechanics go, I have built numerous automobile motors so I am comfortable working with my hands, but I can't seem to find a shop manual for this specific motor and since I have never worked on an outboard I feel more comfortable letting a reputable shop do the work.
That would be a good choice right now.. Did you try looking on iboats for a manual? They have a manual for almost every boat motor made. I would at least check them out on a manual if you have not already..
