I see this all the time. I'm a member of a local gun classifieds forum for our state only. I hardly ever see a deal on there, and often times people want more than they cost new. It's annoying, but it happens quite often so is just something you have to deal with I guess.

For example, there was a guy a while back with a Savage Model 10 with a Simmons scope. Just like they sell at Walmart. He wanted $400 for his used one yet they sell it for $387 at Walmart. He tried to tell me his was worth more because it didn't come from Walmart and the ones from Walmart must have cheap plastic internals, even though his was the same model.

Another guy is wanting to sell a Ruger LCP I'd like to have with a Crimson Trace laser and a box of ammo. He wants $450 for a used one. A local gun shop sells these brand new for $399.

About 90% of the guns for sale ads I see are like this. The other 9% are priced $25-50 cheaper than new, and the other 1% are decent deals. I've run across a couple of deals in my life, but I've not seen all that many recently on guns, and they seemed to be in the minority.

The crazy part is while a lot of that stuff doesn't sell, some of it actually does. Seems like a lot of guys would rather trade their gun in for 1/3 of what they cost new instead of selling it for 60-70% of the new price.
