I use mouth calls....................and a few others, but not a slate.
Here's what Brian from NAHC recommends;
POt calls are basically the same. Wipe the surfaces down with alcohol. The object here is to remove and oils, grime and gunk that may have filled in the pores of the surface. Use 60 to 120 grit sandpaper and lightly sand the tip of your striker. Again, alcohol wipe might not hurt. There are some newer strikers that do not take well to sanding. These composite type strikers are best just cleaned up with the alchol.
