Good point as I went back and re-read.

Some quick tips.

If you sand the surface of your Pot or Slate call sand in one direction only.
For your strikers they will get smooth with use ~ I just use a piece of 3M sctoch brite on the tip and turn the tip to lightly roughen it up. It don' take much.

Actually in my NWTF vest I have a striker tip brass ring where a small piece of 3M scotch brite is right there. Rub it back and forth or twirl it on that scotch brite surface and I am good to go.

Lastly carry a Bic Lighter. Flaming the surface of slate calls (Only has not done any good on crystal, glass, or metal surfaces ~ works well on slate or ceramic) will dry the surface out quickly. Yo can actually see the color change as it dries.
