Horton will be the 1st to admit that 'Dial-A-Range' [aka dial-a-rage] is a love/hate thing w/ their customers. Quite a few owners have pinned it in one position and use range compensating scopes instead. You may want to consider that option since you have to dig into it. If so, do a search on AT, that's where I saw it last.
