RE: How to hunt doves or quail?
In general, Nathan, you are correct. There are several different types of quial to hunt, in different areas of the USA, but generally to hunt quial, you have to do a lot of walking to find them and then flush them and shoot them. Bird dogs help greatly in finding them and retrieving them. Doves can also be hunted by walking grain fields and flushing them but bird dogs don' t help as much on doves like they do for quial. Generally, the prefered method to hunt doves is to find a fly way or a prefered water source and sit and wait for them to come by and pass shoot them. Both dove and quial are sometimes hard to connect with due to thier flying speed but they both make excellant table fair.
