Feed for dairy cows is balanced by energy, fibers, protein, and minerals. Unless the deer are fenced like dairy cows, it would be difficult to fine tune their rations like a farmer. I agree that it is mostly a marketing claim. If you are on poor soil, liming and fertilizing can get more minerals and food (energy) into the deer. That will improve doe lactation and (slightly) antler mass.
