Here in New York State I will often set up over some sort of bait or lure.I mainly focus on non residential areas in the extreme cold of winter for this tactic.Although I don't always "bait" my setups, baiting could tend to attract predators to communities in which pets and/or people "COULD" become targets.I'm not sure what type of area (residential or non res.)that you hunt, but you may also consider a well placed decoy with some gland lure and a cover scent.I do all of my predator hunting from dusk til' dawn in thick brush-lot edges or woods where I may not see an aproaching animal,so attracting the target to a spot of my choosing sometimes proves beneficial.Good luck!!! Keep at it. They're smart critters!
