matt068: I've never had that problem. If this battery has lots of charge left or a rechargeable, just mark it with tape or a pen and reinsert it in a different slot but stay in one of the lower four because that was the section it was originally removed from to retest.Those cameras are wired: bottom four slots in series: top four slots in series. Now each set of four are wired in parallel. This gives a reading of 6 volt for upper set and then 6 volt for the lower set. If this same battery gets hot, then you know the battery is faulty. If the original slot gets hot with a different battery, then the camera has a fault in the lower section. The top section will still be okay.
