Default RE: Deer food plots?

To add to what has been said, try to clear as much of the leaves, weeds, and debris as possible. Also try to disturb the soil. If nothing else use a garden rake to loosen up the top layer of soil. For the seed to germinate it needs to have good soil contact. After spreading the seed try " gently" driving over it with an atv to press the seed into the soil. As far as the type of seed, the Imperial No-Plow has contains an annual clover which means it will have to be replanted next year. You might try Ladino, White Dutch, or Kenland Red clover which are perenials. I' ve had really good luck with all of those. I' m going to try a new variety of white clover this year called Durana. They say it is very similar to White Dutch clover but holds up a lot better to heavy grazing. Make sure you use an innoculant. You can get it at most any feed/seed store for $5 or less and will make a big difference on the outcome of the plot. You' ve already been told but I' ll say it again. Get a soil test. Probably the single most important thing you can do. Good Luck!!!
