RE: HUGE BUCK PICS, LOOK AT THIS BAD BOY!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks guys.
Cloud,
I put out White-tail Addiction mineral last year in about 6 different spots, and only two got use, and it was minimal at best. This summer, I planted a food plot in my woods where the smaller 12 point was photographed! That was rape and turnips! This summer I put out several hundred pounds of deer corn though-out the woods, but now, the pics are comming from natural trails.
This is farm country out here! The woods are all " broken plots" ! They are just all small (30-100 acre) patches of woods that are broken up by houses or by fields. There are tons of corn/alfalfa/clover fields in this area, along with large patches of crab apple trees, and the woods are made up mostly of white oaks.
I would say that we have close to, if not more than, 50 deer per square mile in this area, but, there is just so much food that they can sustain themselves!
In previous years, 85% of the deer you saw were does, but now, I am seeing about 40% bucks and 60% does. The antler restictions are really helping to save the young bucks, and, this area has alot of guys who are willing to pass up small bucks for a doe. We have minimal amounts of poaching due to the fact that if you poach a deer, you are probablly going to be caught, as everyone around here will not stand for that and will turn you in.
My property, and the properties that I have permission to hunt are managed by my best friend and I. We have convinced my family members to pass up smaller bucks and take does instead. It is really helping our area stand above the rest.
