The deer usually dont like the persimmons that are unripe. Taste one for yourself.
It will turn your face inside out. Deer love ripe persimmons. I hunt over persimmon trees alot during the early season. Another little note. Only female persimmon trees bear fruit. If you find a persimmon tree and arnt sure if it will bear fruit in the future, check below the tree for old fruit calyxes. (Four point star shaped cluster attached to the base of the fruit). The presence or absence of these will let you know if the tree is a male or female.
