MOA stands for minute of angle. It roughly translates to 1" per 100 yards. An actual minute of angle is 1.047 inches at 100 yards.

When someone says their rifle is sub MOA rifle they simply mean it consistently shoots groups pf 1" or better at 100 yards, 2" at 200 yards, 3' at 300 yards, etc... etc... measured center to center of the bullet holes.

A 1/2 MOA rifle shoots half inch groups at 100 yards, 1" groups at 200 yards, 1.5" groups at 300 yards, etc... etc...




I agree with spaniel about learning the basics first before you dump 2 grand on a rifle. It takes a lot of trigger time and money to master truly long range shooting.
