RE: Jack Brittingham on Texas Trophy Hunters
Never heard of the guy. Then I have mixed feelings on the fenced in hunting. I found in the past 40 years most people that put down fenced in hunting in a 50,000 acre area are from the northeast. They are lucky to have 1 acre up here. I was born and raised in the S.E. corner of Pa. use to fighting for acres to hunt on,lived right next to a orange pumpkin gamelands. 2 hunters per square foot. I moved to South Texas for a job.
First time I was invited to hunt was on a fenced in 50,000 acre ranch. I said no thanks. Then the guy said at least ride along for the weekend. I did and never seen a fence. All the deer seemed to act normal and 3 out of 10 guys shot a deer. heck I had a better kill record up in Pa. A fenced in pay to kill area like they have in Pa. and there are many of them should not be compared to the huge southwestern ranches. Lets be fair in our comments. Most probably never seen a 50,000 PLUS hunting area. They dont fence the area to keep the deer in ,but the poachers out. When you spend money for a biologist and maintain that amout of acres ,would you want some idiot to blast them for free? I can see both sides of the argument. Did I ever shoot a deer on that place? NO,But I did shoot some hogs. They were free.
