I had that same issue when scoping a 1B. You need a long tube for sure. Perhaps a straight tubed (like an Nikon, Sightron or Leupy African model) scope or some fixed power scopes are longer. Another option is to put an extension (offset) type ring on it and you will gain about 1/2 inch or so. That way, your scope may work. I have a Bushy Elite 4200 4-16 X 40 I just took off a Remmy in .204 Ruger. It's a dandy and long tubed. It's listed in the classifieds if you might be interested. Good luck.
