Not sure how we got to Detroit but while we're here, how about a shelter, or a will work for food sign or a dumpster dive after hours at pizza hut? I do not think holding up a store is justified at all in any circumstance, but people have been driven to worse, for less reason. And maybe I was a poacher when I was 4-10 years old but I didn't know it then, and I'm not now. The city to me,I don't really know as I avoid them when possible, has a lot of possibilities for finding food. I have known people in fact in the Army who simply asked a few restaurant owners and managers about saving the last food of the day for them instead of throwing it out, or saving the food from the buffet when it needs refreshing. But go back to 1970 in my town and you would find zero restaurants, no grocery store within 15 miles and there still isn't, and even if there was you couldn't afford to travel to it more than once per week on a Saturday for necessities. I'm not bitchin I'm just sayin how it was and still is for many. I knew how to take game, because thats how everyone did it. I am quite glad those days are long past for me, but I was just wondering how many people were still in that situation. It's probably not strictly legal to pick up critters seen hit on the roads either but I have done so many times and enjoyed some fine meals when I otherwise would have been hungry. The game warden has always kept a list for reported deer kills and authorizes folks to use them for food. But many unreported deer kills also happen on the roads and hungry people clean them up without the game wardens knowledge or permission a lot of times. I bet that happens in Detroit too.
