To be honest there actually is quite a bit of know how involved in calling predators. Hopefully you have looked over you areas, if you have descent distances to work with use you 06, if thick wooded areas or scrub use your 12ga. Here a few bare basics to get you going. Buy a rabbit or woodpecker in distress call, call loudly into the wind and do you best to make that call sound like the animal is in pain/hurt, wear camo, I wear blue jeans but....do not over call do it in bursts for15-30 seconds then taper them off. Recall every 5 minutes or so. Do not move around while calling, always watch and be aware of one working their way down wind of you to scent you out. After 45 minutes of calling into the wind and no action, relocate. Young ones will come running in so be prepared to shoot and any predator may came come in as well. When I use a 12ga on them I use #4 turkey loads on them with an extra full choke. If you shoot one leave him lay and keep calling as where's theres one.......
