Thats your problem. Spare the rod and spoil the child. I'm 19 and I appreciate all the hard whoopings I got. DLG probably does too.

Now if there is underlying problems, that is a different story. You said he has hearing issues. Be sure he's sitting in the front of the class (this will also keep him from screwing around in the back). It seems he is getting help, even one on one learning. So, like you said, I assume the problem is pure laziness.

In my opinion, hunting can teach you many good thing. Hard work is sometimes involved, as well as persistence and a bond with whoever is teaching you. These things are good and I would hate to have to take them away from a kid, however, if it keeps his grades up for him, than thats what i'd do too.

In college I require myself to have all A's and B's. Deer rifle season lands on the week before finals, I know that if I dont have A's and B's I can't hunt. (self imposed restriction) this makes me work hard, attend class, and pull the grades when it is easy to just sleep in or stay up late and not go. I think youre doing a good thing. If it works.

I speak with all his teachers. I also request he sits closer to the teacher so he can hear and pay attention.

Thanks for your post. I appreciate it.
