Man, it has been lots of years but I have set up a few of them at my shop. Yes,sight it in at 20yds on as close a plane as you can get. However, I was thinking you locked it down for this, then let it swing for the compensation operation. Pretty sure that is how we did it.
Once sighted in, try it from a stand. Different stand heights effect the point of impact.
They do work IF you use the same stand (height) all the time and you practice and know the point of impact at different ranges.....JUST LIKE A NORMAL SIGHT. The thing I recall good about them is that they would get you in a deers vitals at ranges up to like 27yds, but so won't most single pins these days.
If it sounds like I am not impressed, well....I guess I wasn't because anyone that put in some practice with thier setup could do just as well. It is a bit of time saver I guess. But then again, we all need more excuses to shoot, not reasons to get away from it!
