For the record, my father and uncle both hunt with crossbows. My father hasn't hunted the last couple years, though.

I have no problems with what weapon is used. A dead deer is a dead deer, regardless of what it was killed with.


Again, my problem is with slob hunters ruining this sport of archery.

Not all crossbow hunters are slobs.I openly admit that.

I realize there are slob hunters that hunt with every weapon.

What I want to make clear is..... that many rifle only hunters, that may consider going out with a crossbow, should educate themselves about how different things are with a bow.

Judging yardage is critical with archery equipment. Shot placement is also critical. You can't just put brown hair in the scope and pull the trigger, like so many do.

Archery already gets a bad rap from the antis. Antis consider shooting an arrow through a deer to be the ultimate cruelity.


Don't you guys worry about slob hunters without proper education heading afield this year? I'm not talking about ethical, educated hunters. I'm talking about the Jim Bobs and Billy Bobs that are out there.


You know the type. They make us all look bad.Even though we fight amongst ourselves, that does nowhere near the damage as a news story does, on the television, when someone finds a crippled deer in their yard and they contact the media.

I've taken enough deer and could quit hunting tomorrow. Its not about my pride. Its about the slob hunters who will be out there without taking the time to get educated. The ones that won't bother to check the sights on their crossbow because they don't know any better.


Like I said, My father and uncle use crossbows and I hunt with them. Its not the weapon I have a problem with.
