a secret weapon that most forget about these days is:
the "Johnson silver Minnow" fish it like a spinner bait....its more weedless andgives offmore flash.

both the spoon and the spinnerbait are great beginner lures.


i prefer a texas rigged worm most timeswich is something that you never "just reel in."(wich is more of a advanced technique, not really but tuffer for beginners to grasp the feel of)

if you dont already:
learn to use/properly setup a Baitcasting Reel if your gonna make bass fishing or fishing for Bigger Fish like Catfish a lifelong hobby....they work better for the heavier baits that Bass or rigs that catfishrequire...

the key to them is the Accuracy that they can cast heavier baits....accurate casting is very important in bass fishing

you can use spinning reels (open and closed face) just fine, with plenty success...but baitcasters are so much finer when bassingor catfishing.

spinning reels are more for lighter tackle like 1/4 oz and under(as far as Bass fishing goes)

also always make sure your lures are clean(spotless) and free of any weeds/slime/moss/grass/twig .
youll never catch anything with salad on your lure....this is very important.
