how do you use lures?

I would recomend flipping and pitching a plastic worm into what ever you are fishing, a creature bait or crawfish bait. Wal mart or bps has a good selection of these. Flip or pitch these into the HEAVIEST cover you have to fish and I am almost sure you will catch some bass. The best rods to use are medium heavy ugly sticks , 65 pound braid, and a 6:3:1 gear ratio or if you have the money a 7:3:1 gear ratio baitcast reel . If you want to learn how to flip or pitch go to youtube and type in flipping and pitching for bass and the pros will show you.

it did it twice to me....3rd times a charm...this ones is much shorter.
some luresare tobe reeled steady at a depth of usually 0-3 feet likea Spinnerbait
a secret weapon that most forget about these days is:
the "Johnson silver Minnow" fish it like a spinner bait....its more weedless andgives offmore flash.
both the spoon and the spinnerbait are great beginner lures.
i prefer a texas rigged worm most timeswich is something that you never "just reel in."(wich is more of a advanced technique, not really but tuffer for beginners to grasp the feel of)
if your a beginner
heres a good sight with some ok info:

if you dont already:
learn to use/properly setup a Baitcasting Reel if your gonna make bass fishing or fishing for Bigger Fish like Catfish a lifelong hobby....they work better for the heavier baits that Bass or rigs that catfishrequire...
the key to them is the Accuracy that they can cast heavier baits....accurate casting is very important in bass fishing
you can use spinning reels (open and closed face) just fine, with plenty success...but baitcasters are so much finer when bassingor catfishing.
spinning reels are more for lighter tackle like 1/4 oz and under(as far as Bass fishing goes)
also always make sure your lures are clean(spotless) and free of any weeds/slime/moss/grass/twig .
youll never catch anything with salad on your lure....this is very important.
