... well maybe we shouldn't have given everybody a two hour head start.
Kendall and I ended up going all the way up to the Tamalco (sp?) ramp. It was about as far away of a ramp from the starting point that we could find.
(We weren't sure how crowded the west access and Hazlet would be so we left those areas to the other teams.)
The water was really muddy and the wind was killer but we found two tiny spots out of the wind. There were fish in there but nothing real big and we might have seen one buff but that was it. (and we didn't hit it)
We cruised up north a bit to what must have been the Kaskaskia flowing into Carlyle. Just about had to run the big motor to fight the current. It looks like it would be a really neat place once the water drops down a bit and sans the 30mph winds.
There's an eagle nest there too. The eagle seemed amused by our efforts to find some buffs.
It was a good time. Thanks everybody!
Johnny, the spillway wasn't anything to get excited about. The water was really stained and if the bigheads were up, we didn't see 'em. The guys started driving their boats slowly around in circles with lights on and shot at the silvers instead. At one point there were five boats up there. We ended up just shooting some gar.
As far as the officers placing in the tourney. Dave's team didn't get a lot of weight but his team had some big smiles so that counts for a lot. I'm not sure if his shooters had ever shot from a boat before. K and I ended up with 68.6 pounds. We had some nice gar but just so-so carp and no buffs. We still came in first place in the Pontoon boat division. [8D]
