J Pike; as Russ said you won' t be killing any grass with 2,4 D. There won' t be any dandelions but the grass will still be there. I' d wait untill I had to right material before wasting my time spraying something that won' t do the job.

You could just cut the grass for now to try to keep the seed heads from forming.
