Yes! The proper order is to get a 22lr FIRST! Then a shotgun, and next a good deer rifle(if legal in your state). Only afteryouhave these guns can we have discussions about which calibersare best to fill the gaps in between. I have nearly a half dozen 22's, lever actions, a semi auto, and bolt actions, with no duplicates in any other caliber(oh crap,12 gauge doesn't count does it?). Everyone needs a 22! You can shoot tin cans all freakin day for $20 bucks. Nothing else will make you abetter shot as quick.

What do you have in gun cabinet now? If you a have a deer rifle you can use it for yotes, and the 22lr works for anything smaller.
