The Genesis is made by Traditions for Remington. A few of us have the black/blue Genesis and have no problems with the finish. Mine looks the same as when I bought it. Obviously not the nicest finish, but its holding up.
To refinish that barrel would be more than refinishing a bright blue finish. There is a bit more polishing of the barrel required.
I don't know what you paid for yours, but mine only cost me a net of $99 from Cabelas after the $30 rebate. And for that amount, I really don't care if it scratches up. I can spot blue it.
But with yours, I would give Rem a call and ask if you should send it back to them to examine.
Mine was around that but still. I've read reports and someone posted on here a picture of a big spot worn off on the side of one a while back. I've read several reviews to so I know it's a common issue and not just something I'm experiencing. I may still give Remington a call if I get time.
As for 1400 rounds I hope I get more than that but I may not. If I don't it didn't cost a ton so oh well. A gun should last a lifetime imo. I really am wondering if I shouldn't have bought a used Knight or something for $150 or so instead.
