Hey guys - I just came back from shooting the new GM LRH 45 in my T/C Hawken. Because I have basically this same barrel for a Renegade (except 1"), I figured I would play with it with lighter bullets and loads. I already had it shooting 200 gr XTPs pretty good.
Anyway, I shot 2 groups each at 50 yds with Goex FFFg and Pyrodex P. I shot the Pyro P first with 50 gr then 60, then the same with the FFFg. I was shooting a 150 gr Nosler .400" bullet and Harvester Blue EZ load sabots swabbing between each shot.
I shot 3 shots at each target, examined the targets and because I thought the 50 gr of Pyro P was the best, shot 2 more at the same target to confirm. I then made one sight adjustment and shot the same 50 gr Pyro P load at 100 yds.
The first shot I held 6 O'clock on the *' circle and hit slightly low. The next 4 shots I tried the best I could to hold 6 O'clock on the 1" orange dot. (pretty hard for these old eyes to see that). All in all though, at 100 yds with the open sights, I think this new barrel did pretty good. I think just a tad more sight adjustment and I'll have it set with a light load. The nipple was getting pretty dirty at this point so I decided to call it quits for the day.
