I am on the side of saluki: Keep the 270, and get the 300. That is what I would do. The cost over the next 10+ years is negligable.

If I had to choose one caliber though, it would be an 06. I have never had one until I won one this year. You have SO many choices. I am currently shooting the Remington reduced recoil 125 gr ammunition. That is the equivalent of a243, and Ihad somekids andgirls shoot it this year with great success.Then you can jump to to 150, 165, or 180 gr bullets. There are some premium, high energy bullets that are equal to the 300.

It would take a lot to ever make me give up my 270, but if I could only have one gun, it would be a 30-06.
