Lane.... powder in the can or powder in barrel?

I do have a lb of 777 that I've never opened but I fear the crude ring. [:@] Is it pretty shelf stable once its open or does is weaken with time?

For as much as I shoot, swabbing between shots shouldn't be a huge problem. I have the vari-flames to shoot the smaller primers.... does that help with the aforementioned ring?
