I made some and they do work very well. Even a shooting staff will help. I make all mine. The shooting sticks I made out of a treated 2x4 and my shooting staff I made out of a piece of alder.

Another thing I used bunny hunting on snowshoes... I went to one of them St. Vincent DePaul Society places that sell other peoples junk. I found three sets of ski poles. These are great for shooting off of, they have a hand grip, and are actually handy in the deep snow when on shoes....

If you practice off shooting sticks, it will surprise you how well you can shoot.
