It's really a personal preference thing. Years ago, the old adage was to use .029 for hunting because they were more durable. Now, with the newer fibers out there that are incredibely flexible, you can use smaller diameters.

I like .019 for everything. I use Fitz fiber in my sites and the stuff is very durable. However, it will get brittle with time and need changed out.

Not only are the new pins more durable,they are brighter.

I hunted with .010 this year but I have.019's ordere for my new bow for next season.For hunting,I feel the .019's are just a little better fit.BUT,if I don't like them after using .010's,I can swap the housing off my old sight.
