The standard 50 cal maxiballs weigh 370, but there are other weithts. My brother used to shoot the 460 gr maxiballs. They were awesome on deer. The maxihunters also come in several weights, but generally weighless than maxiballs.

Maxihunters never shot well for me. Tried about 10, and recast the other 10 into maxiballs. The front or top band on these bullets, that is supposed to engrave into the rifling, is much smaller than the top band on the maxiballs. Maxihunters may even be a bit smaller diameter, seemed that way to me at least.

I have never seen a T/C Hawken or Renegade that wouldNOT shoot a maxiball over 80 - 100 gr powder very well.
the HAWKINS .50 CAL IS BEST SHOT WITH A 370 GR BULLET.

that was bullet that was used in that gun fron day one.

now, the MAXI-HUNTERS are too short even tho they are 370 grs.

stay away from them.

but if you have a MAXI-BALL which is 370 gr. it is LONGER and will shoot GREAT.

reason why the bullets dont shoot well in a 1-48 twist is because they need to be LONGER.

this is why a 348 powerbelt is just about right length of a 370 MAXI-BALL.

i use the 295 gr but the 348 is one that should shoot the best on the 1-48 twist.
