Default RE: Nobody to blame but yourself...

I haven't filled a tag this year and my prospects to do so don't look good.
1. My fault for for getting on my lease so late. I had to find a place to hunt that I could afford. I could have been scouting public land, I held out for private and when I got it I didn't have much time to scout. Its a two hour drive from home.I could have used vacation days to scout, I didn't. My fault.
2. I had a shot at a doe. I misjudged distance and shot under her TWICE. My rangefinder was in my backpack. NO DOUBT, my fault.
3. Another shot opportunityat a doe. My release grenaded while drawing. My fault? Maybe, I chose that brand of release. I had drawn the bow upon getting in my stand with no issues.
4. No shot opportunities at bucks that were legal in my county. (Minimum 13" inside spread or at least one unbranched antler). My fault again for lack of scouting preseason. I did do some low impact,(I think), in season scouting and found a good looking area after the rut. I have high expectations for that area next year.

Losing my lease last year due to the owner selling the place hurt me this year. I had a problem finding a place to hunt that I could afford. I don't know of a single private property that allows "free" hunting. It was a bump in the road I had no control over. I did get permission to hunt another property 4 hours away from home. My fault for not being willing to make the drive on a regular basis.
