RE: pa antler restrictions yes or no?
First of all Mr.Moderator,I don't pop the first buck that comes along,I've let many walk past and have come home empty handed as a result. But I don't base my sucess on the results of how many points it has.Not all of us are fortunate enough financially to go to states like Nebraska and such to hunt. Some of us have to be satisfied with staying at home and hunting the state we live in.I also personally think it's unfair to compare pur state to others and our situation to others and to expect this state to become one of those simply because we want it to.You and everone else with any sense at all know this state deer herd lacks the genetics, food sources, and hunting pressures to ever compete withe the Kansas,Iowa, and Illinois of this world. No,I don't have a mounted head on my wall, never even considered one because a trophy in my mind doesn't have to have a headfull of horns. Please feel free to show me these mature bucks that this AR has prodeced, feel free to show me this public ground where I can kill this 10 point, feel free to show me "more and bigger" bucks we're seeing now and i'll be happy to look.It only makes sense that if you place any type of AR it will immediately increase the average size of bucks takes, but feel free to show me what other benefits it has given us.Please do not tell me the the only reason the PGC has instituted this program is so we all can brag about the bigger deer we are killing because I sure don't see any other positive results. If the habitat is so poor, why ? Why has it been allowed to get that way ? Why don't we focus on that problem and harvest much of the mature timber that's available ?Let me ask you a question, If there are 3 buck standing together, a 6 year old 4 point ,a 4 year old 6 point, and a 2 year old 10 point, which one would you shoot ????
