For deer and regular sized hogsa regular 150 grainRemington Core lokt, Federal (blue box) soft points, Winchester power points, etc... will work perfectly fine. I use the Federal soft points in my sons 30-06.

For the bigger animals like elk I like a 180 grain bullet. The core lokts are fine but you many people opt for more solidly constructed bullets like Nosler partition, Noslet accubond, Hornady interbond, Barnes TSX, etc...
