Been there done that. I shot one fora doe about 3-4 yrs ago as light was fading....same thing. Ithad 2" spikes that layed back along his head, I couldn't even come close to seeing them. Weird thing...he was a 2.5yr old....a pathetic one for sure, but I thought it was a big doe.
